Me voy volando, pero no sin antes felicitaros las Navidades, y desearos que seáis felices y disfrutéis de la familia y los buenos amigos. Y hasta dentro de poquito (a los Barceloneses), que dentro de nada salgo para allá!

En principio lo ibamos a posponer hasta que yo volviera de Barcelona, pero nos acaban de notificar que nos suben el alquiler del piso, 20 dólares! Qué bestias. Eso ha sido el desencadenante para ponernos a buscar. Y la verdad es que hemos tenido mucha suerte: hemos encontrado otro piso, mucho más barato, con tres habitaciones, en mucho mejor condición, con garaje, relativamente cerca de la playa (no tanto, que esto de ahora es un lujazo). Así que nos hemos puesto en marcha, y hoy nos han confirmado que nuestra solicitud ha sido aceptada. La mudanza, a partir del 21. Casi casi en Navidad, por los pelos.

Por cierto, habrá sitio para visitas, que lo sepáis. :)

Y para entrar con buen pie, tenemos dos conciertos este fin de semana, así que me está tocando aprenderme unas 30 canciones en menos de una semana. Claro que siendo percusionista no tengo que aprenderme letras ni acordes, asi que no problem! Serán mis primeros conciertos desde que estoy en Australia, ya era hora no? Ya os contaré.

A friend recommended a book that should help a lot with some of the issues I've been dealing with: "Interactive Music Systems", by Robert Rowe. I think it's out of print, I got it second hand from Amazon. It's really interesting, and it does address many of the problems I've faced (so far) with Whole-Play. Perfect timing then: this book will definitely help with the redesig of Whole-Play, and hopefully will allow me to move faster through the technical issues, and get sooner to the creative phase of Whole-Play. No sé si es que está algo desorientado o que se ha echado una novia gaviota, el caso es que se ha convertido en habitual en la playa.

El Bar-tailed Godwit es un ave migratoria que visita Australia en su estación no reproductiva. Lo que significa que aquí la vemos con su plumaje básico. Mide unos 40cm, pero resulta ser un fieras: el Godwit ostenta el récord the vuelo ininterrumpido, más de 11.500 Km!

Un Totyota Yaris de 2007, con muy pocos kilómetros, dos años de garantía de fábrica, y que confiamos nos acompañe durante muchos años. La verdad es que acostumbrados a la furgoneta, es un placer conducir el Yaris.

Here's an example: imagine that we have a string that includes line breaks, tabs and lots of spaces between words, and we assign it to a PRE element's innerHTML (let's say the PRE has id=target).

One would expect that the white space (line breaks, tabs and spaces) should be preserved, and in fact that's what happens in FF and Opera. But Internet Explorer (tested on 6 and 7) normalizes the string, collapsing all adjacent white space intro a single space character. Here's how the PRE element looks in Firefox and Opera:

I haven't been able to find a way to fix this, I think the only way around it is to use DOM methods instead of innerHTML to manipulate the PRE contents, but in some cases that's not necessarily an easy alternative (for example if there are HTML elements inside the string). If anyone has any new ideas on this, please share!

But sometimes I'm Mr.Stubborn: I have to finish this milestone, and I will! Today I've continued to work on the Harmonizer - the name sounds cool! :) Now W-P can harmonize melodies using different harmonies (e.g. diatonic, pentatonic, whole-tone...). At this stage the harmonizations are rather simple, but I believe they establish a good basis for more sophisticated ones in the future.

Anyway, I'm definitely realizing that either I find much more time to work on W-P or I relax a lot about my expectations to get it ready soon. Or both!

Y aunque siempre están por aquí, no he sido capaz de identificar su canto. Según mi libro es algo así como "ricka-ticka-ticka-tick", aunque a veces canta breves frases melódicas a menudo transcritas como "sweet-pretty-creature". Qué imaginación... :)
