My friends recently bought a house in Sardinia, and invited a bunch of us to check it out. This was a magical week, and I wanted to express it as a composition.

In my usual "let's not do this in a normal way", I chose to use the number 7 (7 friends, 7 days) as the generating element for the piece:

• It's got 7 instruments
• The theme has 7 bars
• It's written in 7/8
• It's strictly diatonic (7 pitches)

Each night I wrote the 7 bars for one of the instruments. On the last day I linearize all that and turned it into a 7-part canon, which was a lot of fun.
